Trunki Ride-on Suitcase Reviews
Trunki Ride-on Suitcase Reviews. Here you will find a small selection of customer reviews about the Trunki Ride-on Suitcase.
Arrived very quickly, packaging right. Was received with glee by the new owner, who is a bit too young yet to reach the floor for full propulsion(she's 2yrs). Very pleased with the item.
Hi,
Quick delivery from amazon, as always.
I'm an adult but I've secretly liked Trunki and always eyed them (that makes me a kidult, I suppose). To save myself from embarrassment of other bright-coloured Trunki I bought this one instead.
I don't know how this is different from the first generation Trunki BUT before buying this I watched a video of Trunki:
[...]
So I realised this Paralympic Trunki does not have ID label attached to shoulder strap as written on the 'Technical Details' of this page. It ought to be corrected immediately.
Before buying this, I forgot to zoom in the pictures; there is Olympic logo on both side of the trunki. On one side there is solely the logo and on the other side there is the logo with 'Paralympic Games' written under the logo. So I guess this baby-blue-ish trunki is for Paralympic and the other one (dark blue, red, white, with the lion's head) is for Olympic (but I haven't checked the pictures). But this doesn't makes me give it a 4 stars (this one is more attractive than the other one anyway). I give it 4 stars for the incorrect information given.
I'm using this Trunki to put in all my dissertation materials.
Our eldest (aged 6) was absolutely thrilled with this. It is sturdy, and comes with a guarantee that they will do all they can to replace any parts that ever go wrong, making a great environmental commitment. Even packed full it was well under the 10kgs hand luggage allowance and drew envious glances from kids (and some adults!) everywhere we went. The best bit was that the kids wanted to carry it themselves - result! Even at home we have been using it to store toys - the kids still enjoy riding on it and all in all was well worth the money.
We got this for our 2 year old for a long haul trip in May...It was delivered free, much sooner than we expected and for the cheapest price we could find! Usual great service from amazon!
The product itself is great, good size, lightweight and well made with excellent, well thought out features - from my point of view. But from a toddlers perspective it's just fantastic..my 2 year old loves the Gruffalo and when he saw this he was just besotted and has been riding around on it ever since, reciting all the Gruffalo's famous features!! It has been packed and unpacked and is now being used as an overnight bag for trips to Nana's! Needless to say it will be well broken in before we go on holiday but I'm sure it will definitely make our hours in the airport pass much more quickly and painlessly!! Thank you trunki...& Amazon!
I bought the gruffalo trunki for my daughter's 3rd birthday. She opened it this morning and has not let it out of her sight yet. She loves it, all the rest of her birthday presents are inside and are being dragged or rode around the house. Couldn't have picked a more perfect gift for her.
My daughter loved having this for her holiday. She fitted loads of toys and clothes in for the flight. It was very easy for her to ride on and she loved having rides around the airport. It was very stable & very easy to pull along too.
I thought long and hard before buying the Trunki "Gruffalo" for my three year old grandson Charlie.I had like thousands of others no doubt followed the Trunki idea from the Dragon's Den to seeing it advertised on various websites. After reading a few of the reviews and ending my exhausting search for the best price i took the plunge and bought of Amazon as it was the cheapest overall and i knew from past purchases delivery was free. After a few days the Trunki arrived in its well packed dedicated cardboard box which was very robust and the emerging "Gruffalo" was a sight to behold. The most user friendly suitcase ever for a young child with secret quirky fittings, strong locks and overall top quality materials used in this super strong case. Sticker set also enclosed to personalise your Trunki which i thought was a nice touch. Nothing to build or do just straight from the box and into service which i think will be long. This is not only a case for travel as my Grandson has not put it down since it arrived and keeps all his toys etc in it when travelling between Grandparents for sleepovers etc.
His eyes light up when it popped out of the box as he shouted "It's a Gruffalo Grandad" which alone made this one of the best purchases by far this year. Thank you Trunki and Amazon for a job well done and to all you thinkers out there who are worried this is not really for them, THINK AGAIN AND BUY you will be delighted with your purchase.
Just used this Christmas present on long haul flight. Very popular with the 3 year old. He can pull it like a dog on a lead or sit on it and be pulled along himself. Easily fits in overhead.
I bought this for my 3 year old son. Thought it looked great but when I examined it I thought it was a bit tatty. Edges did not line up that well when I closed it and plastic seemed very cheap also there was chip out of front of it which I was upset about. I decided to keep it as we were going away and my son thought it was great. He loved pulling it along and was great for him to sit on during airport queues, plenty of room for all his bits and pieces inside and easy to push, pull or carry.
As an already very clever design for children, the gruffalo version is great to have as a limited edition and to look at, my children love it to use as well, definately would recommend for anyone to buy.
Purchased on-line before Christmas and item was delivered within a short time even though the weather was bad. My grand-daughter loves this suitcase and cannot wait to use it. at present it is being used to ride on indoors.
No point reiterating the other 70 odd 5 star comments. My only concern was the Ryanair cabin space as the Trunki width is 21cm, and Ryanair state 20cm max. It went through no probs! PS - Got mine for 30 in Sainsbury's (I'm just sayin!!)
Absolutely delighted with this item. My granddaughter will love it. It will keep her amused during the time that has to be spent at the airport awaiting departure. It can be taken on the plane filled with things to keep her amused during the flight
I bought one of these for my two year old son for our holiday. He loves it, he preferred to ride it himself as apposed to me pull him around on it, which when in an airport can prove quite alkward, but it was better than him running off.
It was light weight and fitted loads in it and it also attracted lots of attention and brought smiley faces.
My son wanted to ride it all the time even when we got home, but i've kept it for those special times.
Would highly recommend buying one if going away with little ones.
We bought one for our grandson as they were going on holiday to Australia.
He thought it was brilliant and so did everyone in Singapore and Australia airports as they kept asking where they got them from.
I purchased this product for my young nephew after seeing a child riding on a Trunki in London Heathrow in February. The child looked thrilled with his airport "toy" and everyone around was looking at him and smiling saying what a fun item. Now I have received my Trunki from Amazon, I am thrilled with it. It is lightweight, durable and has plenty of room inside although I am sure mine will only be filled with toys!
I bought a trunki to take my child's holiday stuff on board the plane, so that we coould avoid excessive hold luggage costs with the cheaper airlines. It is advertised as being ideal for such instances. Sadly and thanks to a random Google search I have found out that Ryainair is sooooo tight with it's cabin allowance that Trunki's don't meet their specifications (55x40x20), as the Trunki is 20.5. This is a real shame. I thought I'd put this post here, not because Trunki have done anything wrong, but because the case isn't always as ideal as we would like, esp when trying to travel cheaply with kids.
I recently purchased 2 of these, well one blue (Terrance) and one green (Towgo), and boy am I glad I did! I have 4 children, the eldest are 6 and 2, both boys... These ride-on cases made travel from the UK to the US a little more manageable. The boys rode them around in the airport, and at the gate, so it shaved boredom hour right down. The best part was going through immigration, and my husband and I each had one of the twins in a baby carrier and managed to pull one suitcase and one child on his suitcase a piece. First time traveling without a buggy, and I have to say, it went very well!
Would highly recommend. They are very sturdy, and hold plenty for a child, toys and all, and since they are carry-on sized, it makes things even easier for the duration of the trip.
My two year old son loved packing his toys into this for our holiday. He was so pleased that he got to help with the packing. It was wonderful at the airport as it kept him occupied and he thought it was great that he had his own suitcase to pull along. When his legs got tired he was able to use it as a seat and the best bit was the fact he could use it as a ride on toy and we were also able to pull him along on it. It's brilliant in so many ways. The only negative point is that a bit of the plastic used to stabilise the trunki broke off at the bottom (on its first journey). Although it wasn't actually a problem as it didn't end up effecting the product in any way.
My kid loves it since the time package was opened. He has already made rides on the trunki in house, waiting to go for his first vacation with the Trunki (planned for April 2011)!
It came wraped in a plastic garbage bag and ofcourse it was scratched (2 cm scrach
Othewise all ok
Great item, sped through the airport with kids in tow gathering admiring glances!!
Cant recommend it highly enough
I bought one of these in blue and pink for my son and niece to go on holiday last year, we thought it was novel, that they could pack their own luggage and that it would keep them entertained as a ride-on at the airport. The case itself is ok, not as robust as I had imagined but sturdier than a normal suticase and there is enough space inside for a few books, games etc. Main problem I found with it was that it was a bit unstable and my son fell off it onto a marble floor, had a nasty egg shaped lump on his head afterwards. After that I was a bit weary of using it again....under constant hawk eye supervision it would be ok but for slightly older children (mine were 3 and 4 at time) who ride on it a bit more 'extremely' shall we say be careful.....you will need to watch their every move.
I bought a Trunki for my 3 1/2 year old son for a family holiday to the USA. We flew on 3 planes and subsequently had to negotiate 2 large airports. He will not sit in a pram so I thought this may be a good alternative. My son had a blast on his trunki. He enjoyed either being pulled or propelling himself along. We never had to wonder where he was (he has a tendency to wander)as he was always sitting right there, even in the long immigration queues. It carried enough junk, I mean treasures, to keep him entertained during all the waiting around. I would recommend it to everyone. One word of caution, however, is don't allow your older children (including Dads) to pull it too fast in a rally car type fashion as it will topple over. If pulled responsibly it will stay upright. Once again, it was a great purchase. If you are undecided I say buy it, you will not regret it.
This travelcase is an attention grabber.
My untamed two and a half year old was soooo pre-occupied with this suitcase that she willingly towed/ rode or followed it through customs.
It has enough space to carry enough nappies for her and baby brother,in addition to a spare change of clothing for both of them, baby bottles, wipes, rubber duckies, change mat..I must have packed trunkie to capacity...
her crayons and drawing book and even small blanket for use on a ten hour flight.
she love trunkie so much that we cant put him away after our trip.
The strap is long enough to attach and tow behind the push chair. I love this !!!!!
Onboard, I was able to grab trunkie and my toddler and make a B-line for the toilet after she made a particularly testing mess of herself. The inner straps kept the things in place while I struggled to change her in a very confined space. I bought the blue ride on ...and It closed perfectly well. I didnt feel the need to use the key /lock as it closed securely enough.I fitted into the cabin compartment without any hassle.
this is now a MUST HAVE when I am travelling with my kids.
i may even have to buy a second one for my baby.
I quite like everthing about it, especially its versality...I was able to swing the strap onto my shoulder and carry it when we needed to move very quickly
I would recommend this to people travelling with toddlers.
The Trunki is so cool. It is good that it is classed as hand luggage, and holds a lot too. I got a two week supply of nappies inside so I didn't weigh down the cases with them. My Son loved being pulled along on his Trunki too. If you want a hassle free holiday then this is for you.
Yes, they are fun, and our child loved it. We bought one for a 25 hour flight to Australia from the UK, and to place all the children's stuff within it.
But, you try opening one on the plane. Because there is no divider inside the case (like a normal suitcase), when opening it, everything falls out everywhere. Opening it up on a plane seat or your lap, takes an art form of opening it a little bit, shuffling your arm inside, holding up the stuff on the top half, and then opening it up fully to stop the items inside falling everywhere.
The looks out weigh the practicality hence I guess why we bought one. Big mistake, we won't use it again.
Bought for my youngest grandson and he seemed delighted, not sure that other passengers at airports will share his pleasure!
My Grandson really loved this trunki and ideal for putting in a few clothes and toys. Not really big enough for many clothes. very good for him to sit and ride on however, it doesn't steer so when you are pulling it it only goes in straight lines. It's a good job my grandson mastered how to steer it with is feet. I would certainly use it again and recommend it but warn people it's not easy to steer,Trunki Terrance Ride-on Suitcase (Blue)
I bought the Trunki for my Godson and he loved it. They travel quite a lot and it comes in very handy. However he is quite tall for a 3 year old so I dont think he would be able to use it much longer.
My daughter is 2 now and I would say the perfect age to make the most of her Trunki, I would reccommend it for 2 - 4 year old children.
My almost 3 year old absolutley loves this. Very robust. He likes to use it as a toy to pull around the house and greta for storing toys
Soon we are going for holidays and I bought two of trunkies, blue and yellow, for my sons, 5 and 4 years old.
They are pulling each other around, packing soft toys in it, locking - unlocking, opening - closing, trunkies are sitting on the sofa when they are watching tv, staying near the bed when they sleep and even accompaning them to the bathroom.
Bright colours, tough plastic, blue trunki came with two holders (not only one, as shown in the product picture).
The price is very competitive too.
Would definately recommend.
A Trunki is a little suitcase designed for children 3-6 years old. They come in a range of different designs but are all the same size and shape. They are not only suitcases but double up as ride ons! Each different design has a different name, which is fun for kids and makes them feel like their Trunki has a life of their own! My daughter chose this pink Trunki, calle Trixie...
Trunki's aren't very big and are certainly not the size of adult suitcases (be aware of this if buying online). They are infact designed to hold hand luggage and meet the current UK hand luggage restrictions. They are suprisngly lightweight and are also quite deep.
Our Trunki looks like a mini suitcase. It has wheels and 2 'horns' on the front (these are for the child to hold on to whilst they ride). Our Trunki also has a handle for adults to pick the case up. It also has a thick strap that can be used on an adults shoulder or to unclip and pull the case along.
Trixie is very pretty and very eyecatching - we always get comments on it and it always stands out, so there's no chance of us losing it. She is also an 'updated' version which means there are a number of new features. The first feature is a plastic key that is attached to the main strap - this is to add extra security to the Trunki. The second feature is the carry handle on top of the case which is good for adults to grab in a rush. The third and fourth features are an internal pouch and 'teddybear seatbelts' - the internal pouch is handy for storing small things away and the teddybear seatbelts hold everything in place and appear to make extra space inside the Trunki. The fifth feature is a Trunki passport - this is a small, cardboard passport intended on keeping tots entertained, you can fill the passport up with holiday information and downloads (I must admit we haven't yet bothered with this but it may well come in useful in a couple of years time).
The case is opened and closed via 2 secure catches either side of the case. These catches are easy enough for adults to open but not so easy for children - this has its upsides and downsides. The Trunki also has a soft rubber rim around the edges to protect little fingers whilst packing.
My daughters most favourite thing about her Trunki is the fact she can ride on it. The main strap can be removed for zooming around on the Trunki by herself or the main strap can be removed at just one end of the Trunki so I can pull her along on it (without her moaning or falling behind!). Even though my daughter has just turned 3 years old her Trunki isn't too big for her - she can climb on and off with ease and even needs to bend her legs a little when I pull her along on it. The first few times I pulled her along on her Trunki I was quite nervous that it would tip over and she would fall off, but I was relieved to find that the Trunki was very sturdy and had good stabilisers to prevent her from falling off. To date we have had no incidents with our Trunki, fingers crossed.
Our Trunki has come in very useful for when we have been queueing to check in or waiting around in departure lounges - my daughter has her own portable seat! It also fits nicely under seats and in overhead compartments. We have travelled via plane and train with our Trunki so far...
We are yet to receive any damage to our Trunki (or any of the contents inside our Trunki) as it is very robust. It is made from the same hard plastic as adult suitcases are which means it's designed to be strong and durable.
There is plenty of space inside our Trunki and it holds everything my daughter needs whilst travelling. It isn't really big enough for anything other than holding hand luggage, except for an overnight stay and maybe a weekends worth of stuff at a push.
I bought a trunki for each of my children (aged 5 and 3) and used them on a flight twice. The product is useful for:
* Carrying lots of toys to use on the plane, without having to CARRY lots of toys.
* Giving the kids something to play with to a certain extent though the 3 yr old had trouble riding on it and the 5 year old's legs were too long.
* Dragging kids along quickly to the gate (I managed to haul both of them along at a really fast pace while they rode)
* Seats for the kids when they complain they're tired. They are really sturdy.
* Carrying luggage (the long straps work well)
* Fitting into overhead lockers. On an Airbus 777 they fit in side by side, with the "faces" facing you and there is lots of room for other luggage in the overhead.
* Having an older child drag along her own luggage a good distance.
The design could be improved in the following ways:
* More thought into a strap for the kids to pull it along themselves. Somehow this wasn't quite right.
* They can topple over if dragged incompetently (as a child would). Perhaps adjusting the centre of gravity would make a difference.
* The clips to open the bag are slightly fiddly and wearing on nails as you have to open one side and then unhook the other. Things always seem to get caught in the side when closing so it takes a bit longer than you'd hope.
Overall, being a single travelling mother of two it was really handy to have them and I'm happy with the purchase.
Trunki Trixie Ride-On Suitcase (Pink) - Upgraded
This is brilliant I bought one for my 2 yr old grandaughter to use when she travels, she loves it ! in fact her younger sister(11mths) wants one as well (They fight over it)My daughter inlaw loves it as it is so compact and easy to carry or tow along, needless to say we will be buying another one for the other granddaughter. I would recomend it to any one with children
We bough one for our 3 year old. after lots of researching. Highly impressed, i though the case would be small yet useful, now i dissagree it is not small and very useful. i have been able to fit eight of her fav toys and a blanket in once side of the case as well as SIX full sets of clothing in the other and did it up without a problem, we also have an 8month old girl walking and has all day been pushing it round with her. so we will be buying her one also. A MUST HAVE.
This is one of the best products to keep kids amused when stuck at some boring airports just take them for a ride around the airport building on the Trunki suitcase and they are happy also when they are tired it saves you carrying them 10 out of 10
Have bought three trunkis now and think they are fantastic. The upgraded pink trixie trunki (and blue and green presumably) is NOT as good as the character trunkis in that it only has one carry handle. Therefore if you are carrying it the handle if off centre and it is at an angle. We also have the tiger trunki which has two handles so this is not a problem. Otherwise fantastic and would definately recommend...
what an excellent idea. My daughter packed straight away for our holiday in May!! A great design, colour. lots of space and also a seat. Fantastic.
i brought 2 of these trunki's one for my daughter and one for my sister inlaw for our holiday. thinking these where great as could be carried on as hand luggage but there was only one problem when i recieved my tickets and terms and conditions from thomas cook the size restriction was L43cm x H28cm x W23cm and which the sizes of the trunki is L46cm x H32cm x W21cm so they were unsuitable for the airport as hand luggage so im not happy with this product as this should have been stated in the discription!!!!
Hope this helps anyone out there that is travelling with thomas cook and is interested in one of these!!
I must say that this little Trunki is the best value around. Sound & sturdy materials. Lightweight and fantastic at carrying most of your children's clobber by hand, therefore avoiding baggage charges on some of the budget airlines. A must..
Great product not only to go abroad & those long delays in the airport but to go weekends away in the uk. Our little girl loves it. product is strong and durable and IS ALLOWED AS HAND LUGGAGE!
Brilliant piece of luggage for any self respecting child. Very useful and good quality, don't know how i would survive check in without it. And its small enough to go on as hand luggage.
Amazing product!! Really handy for mini breaks with my son, especially to keep his things seperate! Plus it's fun for him to ride along on. Amazing product 5 stars x x x x x
cannot wait to take this away with us! good size for a child, comfortably fits all my son needs for a weekend away. where were these when i was little?!
From the minute I openend the box, she fell in love with her Trunki.
What a great idea, to make a mini suitcase which can also be a toy. and it comes with all kinds of (seperately) sold extra's.
It's durable, light and looks nice and cute.
I was really looking forward to receiving this product as it will make packing for the summer holidays so much fun for my son. However, despite five days of waiting and a tracking system telling me it has been delivered I have seen nothing of it.... Very disappointing service indeed. I am sure the product - if received - is good though.
Excellent trunki my 4 year old daughter was playing with this weeks before our holiday she especially enjoys getting pulled around the airport would certainly recommend to anyone
I bought this product with the view to keeping my 3yr old boy amused whilst passing through the airport on our recent European holiday.
By jove, was it great. And well worth the money, even if I did get it a few 's cheaper than in the shops. He sat on in, sat on it backwards, lay down on it like a surfboard, urging it along with his own feet on occasion.
Very user friendly, bit wary when turning corners, but extremely useful, and a must for any family with young children (3+).
We loved it, the kidds loved it. The kidds (2 and 4 y.o.) loved it so much that we had our best trip ever, including the airport ques. It's not as easy as a stroller but than it carries staff and it kept the kidds entertained and cooperant. They learned to ride it almost imediately and with a little bit of care at changing direction they don't fall off. Other good points - it locks and the key is part of the strap and you can put it under the seat in front in the plain and use it as foot support during the flight.
Makes traveling with a smallie so easy and fun! You can fit all they toys and other emergency bits for them. I also got the stickers which he loved putting on. A great product that I would definitely recommend!
Bought this item for my daughter. She loves the bright colours, the secret compartments and the fact she can ride it and carry it around. It goes everywhere with her and has been packed and re-packed numerous times in anticipation of a proper holiday. The case is very sturdy and looks too be well made. The delivery was quick too.
